The Park is now the Home to the Tropical Butterfly and Orchid Garden ... New Zealands ONLY tropical Butterfly House and a major attraction. Featured on Maggies Garden show, this garden is a work of art in which you can walk among some of the worlds most beautiful and spectacular Tropical Butterflies.
Dickson Park is set beside a stream, surrounded by Native Bush and the old Tararu gardens, planted late last century by the settlers looking to beautify this thriving Gold Town. It is also the site of the remains of the Brown and Campbel gold processing stamper battery. The Gold is mostly gone, or best left in the ground to preserve the scenic wealth of this beautiful area, but the history remains and is a part of life on the Coromandel Peninsula.
